Pave Competitions, Grants and Internships

The mission of the Planning and Visual Education Partnership (PAVE) is to support, encourage and foster students and young professionals working in the fields of retail design, retail planning and visual merchandising. To that end we run three annual competitions, offering real world experience and recognition. We open the door for entrants to meet leaders in the fields of retail management, store planning, visual merchandising and architecture, and manufacturers in the retail environments industry.

For undergraduate college students, PAVE offers two contests. The Student Design Competition is in its 23rd year, and seeks entries in two categories: visual merchandising design and store planning design. Prizes include grants to students and their schools.

The PAVE the Way 3D Design Challenge offers students a chance to bring their designs to life, with finalists exhibiting a prototype at an industry trade show.
The winners receive cash prizes.

To encourage innovation in professionals under 40, PAVE sponsors the Rising Star Award, now in its sixth year. Retailers, designers and industry suppliers are invited to nominate individuals who have demonstrated talent, vision, and implementation in the retail environment, for their own companies or for clients.
